We are anchored, it is calm, we are ready for bed

Weather is always changing. You could wake up at 4:20 am with 50 knots of wind and the anchor dragging! This is how we gain experience. Before you go night-night check your berth, main cabin and the cockpit for any gear that may cause a problem if the weather turns foul. By stowing gear, a prudent skipper and crew will always be ready for the possibility of inclement weather.

At night boats almost seem alive.  There are noises from water, wind, pumps, inverters, generators, the anchor rope, stoves, air conditioning, refrigeration, rain, and sometimes visitor birds.  So expect some not so familar noises and enjoy them.  They will become friendly sounds the second night.
