Captain GiO learned how to sail on large sailboats out of the Oak Bay Marina (Victoria, BC) through a winter racing series. Sure it is cold, sure it can be wet but people do go skiing down frozen moutains after all. With the right gear the Salish Sea can be a magical rainforest experience of misty adventure and better fishing due to less people/traffic on the water!
Check out my storm watching video to get an idea of what it is like when we take the big sailboat out in strong wind and gale force storm warnings! Pegasus through big waves is one of the largest natural roller coasters you will ride. When the other boats are heading to the dock we are heading out to experience the stronger winds that come through the Straight in great waves of weather. The fronts typically last 15 minutes - 2 hours...there is always an ebb and flow of a storm's energy that is quite apparent with regard to the heal of the boat.
Sometimes sunny weather happens with fast wind...those are the lovely days to be out! Wear your Winter, Skiing / Snowbording Gear and you will be dry and comfortable. Come out and see what it is like to play on a big sailboat during a storm.
Off Peak Disounts apply from beginning of October to the end of March.
