The adventure bug came up again when Carrie and I decided to go to Europe in 2007.

Our itinerary included Amsterdam, Athens with a 14 day captained sailboat charter through the Cyclades Islands ending with a few days in Venice. Sailing on a Beneteau boat is a very nice way to get around. Our cruise through Southern Greece was split between two captains for each week.

The first week we had a kiwi that I respect and endeavor to model my own captain style on. He was confident in the decisions made, yet interested in input and very familiar with the lay of the land. Patrick you really did make for a great trip, thanks.

The second week was with captain Ben which 2 months earlier was airlifted off a sailboat that sunk in the Atlantic. Luckily our boat did not sink but did require some anchor retrieval & free diving skills from myself. Ben really was a character foil to Patrick. Even though I got along better with Patrick I would have to say I probably learned more from Ben. It is typically about attitude when being the captain of the boat.
