Giovanni Cojocari to GM - 7/20/10
Hi there... I am looking for just a 30 hp outboard with controls. I have ordered a new dinghy so I do not have any need for the Boat or Trailer. Are you willing to separate or give me a great deal on the package?
Can you send me some pictures?

I can sell the motor and controls separately for $1500.00 firm. If that suits your budget let me know and I'll forward pics of the motor when I get home.

A $1500 price is fare for an engine in good condition.
Have you done your own servicing or had a shop do it?
Is it a two stroke or four?
Short Shaft?

This is a 2001 Johnson short shaft 2 - stroke in good condition and has never been in salt water. It is a manual start with controls and has not been used much. Minor servicing such as leg oil replacement is all that has been done to it, original plugs still in it as it hasn't been used much. It just sits in the garage collecting dust. No leaks and very clean.
With new regulations on boating I've been reluctant to take it out on the water. I don't have a pleasure craft operators card and my boat needs k numbers to avoid getting a fine. You will be happy with it's performance and have no issues. It pushes my little boat 34 miles/hr on gps. I will be going away on holidays Thursday morning so let me know if you would like to have a look asap so if you like it I'll have time to remove it from the boat. Control cables are new last summer.
Thanks GM

Please send some pictures to me.
Too bad it is not an electric start... :-/
I am not in a super rush, my new dinghy is not coming till mid August but I would like to have an engine secured before arrival. I would like to be there when you remove the parts so I will have a better understanding on how they will go onto my dinghy.

I was going to get that installed. I can get you a deal on an electric starter for this motor if you want.

Does it have an oil supply on the engine or do I need to have mixed gas in a tank?

It's not oil injected. You will need to premix gas and oil 50-1. I chose this because my oil injection failed before on another motor.

How much does the electric starter cost?
ru going to install it or will it be done at a shop?
Still looking forward to seeing some pictures of the motor.

If you want to buy the motor it will have to be today. You can see it tonight in Guilford. If you buy the motor I can search out the starter but you would be responsible on the install. You are the only one requesting to purchase the motor separately from the boat. I can use the money towards my holidays, otherwise I will just keep the boat and motor intact.

Today is not going to work.
Contact me after your holidays if you are still interested.

I am motivated to sell quickly. If you are interested in this motor please make your best final offer. The best offer is $1200.00 and if you're not interested it will be gone tonight. (hopefully) I'm tight on finances so I need to clear inventory of my unused toys.

I am very interested in your engine. I think it will match my spec perfectly. I am now trying to arrange transportation.

I went to Surrey in my friend Claudio's car to see the motor in action by 6:30pm. Unfortunately after uncovering the boat and motor the fuel hose was nowhere to be found.

I have some technical questions about your motor.
Does it have capacity to generate power for night lighting / charging battery?
Can an electric starter be installed.
Where have you had it serviced and can they answer the questions above.
Could you also forward your phone number again.

Hi G, there is another person interested in the motor and will be coming out this morning if you are hesitant to purchase the motor.
The only service the motor had was new sparkplugs and leg oil and the new prop which I do myself.
An electric starter and power trim/tilt can be installed as I was at one point interested in installing before.
I am at my storage container to locate the fuel line and can test the leads for power output once I have the motor running. I really need to get some cash today so I'm desperate to sell the motor. I wish I could take you out for a boat ride but I just don't have the time and money to get it in the water.
Let me know if this motor really is the ideal application for your use. I will hold off on the other party interested unless I don't hear back from you. The other party will be available at 10:00 this morning but I haven't given them the Address. You won't be disappointed with this motor should you decide to buy it. Please call me back asap.
Thanks GM

I can get transportation after 2pm. Please give me a call 604-805-4748 when you have started the motor.

GM was willing to pick me up from the King George Skytrain Station by 12:30 pm. After seeing the motor in action in his driveway attached to his speed boat and ensuring the transmission worked by going into forward and reverse I decided to dive in and buy the motor. After removing the engine together he drove me to my parent's house by 2:30 pm. Elapsed time since spotting craigslist ad = 22 hours and two visits to Surrey.
Act fast with purchases on Craigslist.
Stuff moves very quickly if it is the right price.
Below are the main reasons why I chose this outboard model:

Today I just completed a successful sea-trial with everything installed. Wow is it ever a zippy speed boat! What I needed to do to get this engine running smoothly was to ask my friend Shawn to help me do a carb clean. There was water and green goo living in the fuel passages and I installed 2 new spark plugs. This morning I also added a hydrofoil to the engine cavitation plate - it sure makes a difference to how quickly the boat begins planing! I would suggest everyone with a small boat have one of these installed on their outboard engine.
Downfall of the 2 Stroke technology is the smoke generated. Once the carb was cleaned and new spark plugs installed, the exhaust was less than before. This engine does not port the exhaust through the water, so again the sink pot effect is there.
